With Linda K. Johnson

Designed for contemporary dance artists who are working with the various transformations in use and form that accompany the natural aging process but who are still as committed as ever to being in community and accessing their full dancing selves, this class will be constructed as two-hour mash-up of somatic grounding, technique re-dux, and accumulating layers of movement material to allow for generous and prolonged periods of joyous dancing. I bring 39 years of study, research, practice, performance, collaboration and creation to my teaching practice. This class will be additionally resourced by my work with the Alexander Technique, as well as by my current obsessions with embryology, Jungian philosophy, and plants, especially forest ecosystems. I offer this class in the spirit of one of our recently deceased dance Mother Trees, Trisha Brown, who said that, “I was just reaching my dancing and performing prime at 60.” May this be so for each of us.
Due to COVID considerations, class will have a 10 person limit and all participants must be vaccinated and masked. The first class will be complimentary so folks can see what I am up to.
I so look forward to moving with those of you who resonant with this content.
